I have pushed free web hosting to its limits and am getting set to plunk down the bucks for paid hosting. I%26#039;m thinking of giving Bravenet%26#039;s premium hosting a try for a couple months, but I%26#039;m wondering what you all are using and what you recommend. I am designing my own sites with Wordpress. I need to host several domains and cost IS an issue.
Muchos Gracias for your help!

I%26#039;m choosing a paid web host. Any recommendations...?
Godaddy we hosting sucks big time, I moved my websites to http://aplis.net/ you can also give them a try.
I%26#039;m choosing a paid web host. Any recommendations...?
godaddy.com is pretty good and cheap.
Other Replys:I too am using godaddy. I have two sites, both use economy package:
hosting: $45/yr per site (I have one Linux, one windows, I see no difference).
domain name $12/yr per site
SSL certificate $20/yr (one site).
Their servers (time to load pages) have improved over the last two years.
I would not recommend their %26quot;quick shopping cart%26quot; service. It is stable, but rather limited and not very attractive.
Other Replys:check My Webbie Hosting.com%26#039;s hosting plans. Since you are going to host multiple websites, I suggest that you go for their Corporate Plan ($8.95/mo, 30 domain names hosted) or Enterprise Plan ($12.95/mo, Unlimited domain names hosted).
Besides, PHP scripts like wordpress are already preinstalled and therefore you can activate them in your website in just a single click.
You will also be given one free domain name for every hosting plan, and succeeding registrations are only $9.50/yr. There are also cheaper hosting plans (the cheapest is $3.95/month) if you want your websites to have separate accounts, but as you have said, cost is an issue, and that%26#039;s why I recommend the corporate and the enterprise plans.
Other Replys:Hi there,
I have the same issue, in that I have several sites that I have to have hosting for and price being an issue. This brought me to an even bigger decision of whether I should get individual hosting accounts for each, something that allowed for multiple sites to be hosted on one plan, or go with a reseller package. Which route would offer me the features I really wanted vs the cost of each option.
After careful review, pondering and recommendations, I opted to go with HostGator.com and purchased the smallest Reseller package they have, even though you can host unlimited domains on their %26quot;Baby%26quot; package shared hosting plan for less money.
- Their smallest Reseller Package is $24.95 a month.
- The %26quot;Baby%26quot; package on Shared Hosting is $8.95 if you pay for it monthly. It%26#039;s cheaper if you pay per year or multiple years.
I%26#039;m going to tell you my reasons for going with the Reseller package, in case my reasons are things you would like to have too.
On the reseller package you get a WHM (Web Hosting Manager) where you can set up all of your domains, as well as anyone else you would like to host (for free or charge them). In your WHM you can create a separate cPanel (control panel) for each of your sites, among many other things.
This will make each site like it has it%26#039;s own hosting account. All of the files in the file manager are for that one site, which I personally like.
This will also allow you to have more detailed statistics because the stat area of your control panel will show only the results for that one domain which is something that was important to me.
Whereas, the Baby package on the shared hosting, which allows for unlimited domains, uses the %26quot;Add On Domain%26quot; feature to accomplish this.
That means that you have one main control panel, and each of your sites are set up in that control panel. The stats are shared and would not give you as detailed of an account as you get by each having their own stats. It would be more of an overall accounting of stats for all of your sites combined, which may not bother you in the least.
If you aren%26#039;t familiar with AddOn domains, it%26#039;s important to know a bit about how they work, so you will know if that is what you want and what will be best for you in your situation. Here is a quick rundown of how they work...
You have your main hosting account, set up for one specific domain name.
Inside your control panel is an Addon Domain feature. When you click on it, it asks you the name of the domain you want to add on. So you enter for example blah.com, a username and password for it.
A folder is automatically created in your file manager named %26quot;blah%26quot; and inside that folder is where you will put all of your files for blah.com. The URL for that domain will be blah.main-site-name.com
After you set up the Add On domain you go back to the previous page and then set up your redirect, which is simply setting it up so that anyone who enters blah.com into their browser, will be redirected to blah.main-site-name.com where your files for blah.com are located.
So if you opt to go with a package like this, then you would need to do that for all of the sites you host and all of your sites%26#039; files would be in that one file manager but in their own directories.
Anywhooo.. there it is, lol. I%26#039;m sorry this answer is so wordy, but choosing the right package and how those packages work, to me, is just as important as choosing a good hosting company.
I can honestly say that I have been extremely pleased with HostGator. I have experienced no downtime that I am aware of. They offer several avenues of support (ticket system, toll free phone #, well documented knowledge base and live chat). I have used several different paid hosting companies in my online experience and this is by far the best I have used.
I hope this information has helped you some in making a decision. Good luck with your plans and I hope you have great success with your sites. :)
Other Replys:1and1 solutions definately. it%26#039;s cheap. Has plenty of useful and powerful resources and supports many server-side scripts.

Other Replys:Hi,
Why Not look At ZaxiHosting Plans?
http://www.zaxihosting.com
Shared Hosting Starting At around 3$.
Cpanel/Fantastico Included too.
They have great uptime and all day available support.
I have a reseller account there and I%26#039;m very satisfy
I%26#039;m Pretty sure that you will have only troubles with overselling companies, offering large numbers of quotes, with low prices.
Remember that you get what you pay for.

Other Replys:I use GoDaddy. You have to use Deluxe hosting if you want to host multiple domains. It is still relatively cheap.
Economy hosting is around $3-$4 a month.
They give you the highest diskspace and bandwidth. I host a photo site so I needed that.
Solid support.
Very stable.
Other Replys:Since you are going to pay for a host, make sure you get one with TOLL FREE support! This is a must!
I can recommend http://www.startlogic.ca I%26#039;ve used them for nearly 3 years and hosted about 20 websites with them. Price is $5.95/ month and they offer toll free support. You can also have up to 50 separate websites per account.
You can also try http://www.easier-hosting.com they offer some good hosting reviews.

Other Replys:I like HostGator for web hosting, and GoDaddy for the domain name registration.
You can easily host as many domains as you want with one HostGator account... %26quot;unlimited%26quot; in theory, depending on the disk space and bandwidth needs of each site.
I%26#039;ve found HostGator tech support staff to be exceptionally helpful when I%26#039;ve needed assistance.
HostGator also has WordPress (and numerous other open-source pages) available in their Fantastico auto-installer. Need a new WordPress? You also get unlimited subdomains, so create one, and with a few mouse clicks in Fantastico, you%26#039;ve got a new %26quot;clean%26quot; WordPress up and running... I%26#039;ve done it in 7 minutes (literally - I used a stopwatch)
Other Replys:Begin with setting up your own webpage as your current internet provider will provide free hosting as discussed below.
If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a %26quot;homepage%26quot; which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in SeaMonkey Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool which is totally free. Also, you can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage using NotePad, Word or Frontpage by simply FTPing the HTML files onto the homepage.
Nevertheless, the %26quot;homepage%26quot; URL is likely to be %26quot;http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe... name%26quot; and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., %26quot;mydomain.com%26quot; which allows you to link any registered domain name to %26quot;mask%26quot; another website. For example, should you type in the %26quot;domain name,%26quot; you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber... a homepage URL which will be masked by the domain name. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE.
When you acquire a domain name, connect it using a redirection service [as discussed above] and submit/publish the domain name on major search engines/directories in order for Net surfers to find your website.
Good luck!
Other Replys:If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months%26#039; time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.
I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.
Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...
They offer hosting of %26quot;unlimited domains%26quot; and you will get massive webspace of 600000 MB (600 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer %26quot;a free Domain Name%26quot; and installing service called %26quot;Fantastico%26quot;. By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer %26quot;Free Website Builder%26quot; as well.
Visit the site to check details.

Other Replys:Hi,
When choosing a web host it%26#039;s of course important to consider the cost (some hosting can be very expensive) but here are some other important things you should take into consideration too:
Web Hosting Space: Some web hosts will only give you 500MB or so of space. This could be a concern if you are looking at creating large websites.
Bandwidth: Some web hosts will severely limit the bandwidth you can use before you incur extra charges.
Uptime: There%26#039;s no point in having a website if people can%26#039;t see it. Does your web host offer at least a 99% uptime guarantee?
Number of websites allowed: If you%26#039;re looking to host more than one website on your account, will your web host charge you more to do this?
Support: If you have any problems you need to be able to contact your web host quickly and easily to get the problem sorted.
I have used Hostgator as my web host for over two years now and have been very very impressed with them. Firstly they%26#039;re very cheap but still give me more web hosting space and bandwidth than I%26#039;ll ever need, the ability to host unlimited websites, a 99.9% uptime guarantee and great customer support. You can find them at http://www.webhostgator.info
Other Replys:There are many good hosting providers like bluehost, ipower, hostmonster etc...
But we have been using Omnis web hosting and we are satisfied with them.
They offer 300 GB webspace, 3000 GB bandwidth and multiple domain web hosting. They are also giving away free domains to new customers.
Check their features at their site.
