What exactly does a web domain include?

I won a free domain online, which is great, but now I have no idea what to do. Do I need to find a file-hosting site for the content I%26#039;m about to upload onto the web, or can I just design a webpage and upload it directly with dreamweaver or something? If there%26#039;s anything else at all that I need in order to create and upload a website, let me know what it is and where I can find it. :)

Other Replys:I agree with what everyone else has said. My experience was that I purchased a domain name, then found a hosting service I liked. I used easy cgi and pointed my site to my domain name. I created my website in publisher then uploaded the files using the hosts upload program. Very easy once you get the hang of it.
